Just listened to your Death Ride podcast and your problem with the lockring on the IRD cassette. In fact, there IS a tiny, light cassette tool that you can carry with you -- the Stein Tool. Once you understand how to use it, it is both easy and effective. You can see and order it at Harris Cyclery in Newton, MA: http://harriscyclery.net/itemdetails.cfm?ID=1214. Until you are absolutely sure you have the IRD problem solved, you might want to pick one up and carry it with you.
